Promotion inteview today

August 18th, 2009 at 08:48 am

Kinda nervous today at noon....with all the job losses and furlough i'm pretty excited and nervous at the same time. I haven't interview for a long time, feely rusty. I'm just hoping not to get tongue-tied and don't rumble on and on. I want this promotion so bad which is about 30% bump an lead analyst/associate position.

I get nervous during promotion interviews also. regular ones - I think that if worst comes to worst, I'm never going to see these people again. Co workers, on the other hand ... don't have that option.

Deep breathing for 10 minutes works for me, and if you can figure out a way to immediately grab the power during the interview, that helps. If you have a joke (clean) or a pithy story about yourself that spotlights whatever good quality makes you a fit for the job, that's a great way to do it. It should relax you, relax the interview panel, and set the tone.

    Good luck!!!

I'm glad it was over. I'm totally spent. All I think about was preparing for this interview the past couple of weeks.

I think in the end, I said all the things they wanted to hear. I was definitely nervous when I shook their hands one by one. I won't know for several weeks if I made the list we'll see.

Sounds good! Hope you'll be able to relax more now. Big Grin

Good for you! That part of the process is over, so it can lead back to a sense of normalcy, regardless of what happens. I hope that things went well, and that you feel good about what you accomplished in there! It's stressful to interview, and there is never any insurance that things will go as smoothly as they seemed to from your description. Best of luck!
